Part 1: Social Interaction (3 minutes)

  2. Do you play any musical instruments? If yes, which one?
  3. How does music make you feel?

Part 2: Solution Discussion (4 minutes)

Situation: You are preparing for a midterm exam next week. You have three options to choose from:

  • Spend time studying for the exam
  • Go on vacation with your family
  • Attend a party with friends

Question: Which option will you choose? Why?

Part 3: Topic Development (5 minutes)

Topic: The benefits of establishing classroom discipline

Key Points to Discuss:

  • Maintaining an effective learning environment
  • Encouraging better student behavior
  • Your own ideas

Follow-up Questions:

  1. Why is discipline important in a classroom?
  2. How can teachers establish good discipline?
  3. Do you think strict discipline is always a good idea? Why or why not?

WRITING TEST

Part 1: Informal Letter Writing (20 minutes)

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

Your friend Andrea has written to you asking when your semester will finish and what plans you and your family have for the holiday. She also wants to know where you plan to go for the vacation.

Write a reply to Andrea’s letter. In your letter:

  • Tell her when your semester will end
  • Share your family’s plans for the holiday
  • Say where you are planning to go for your vacation

You should write at least 120 words.
You do not need to include your name and address.
Your response will be evaluated in terms of Task Fulfillment, Organization, Vocabulary, and Grammar.

 

Part 2: Argumentative Essay (40 minutes)

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Topic: Many students prefer studying at school rather than online.

Discuss the reasons why students prefer traditional classroom learning over online learning.

Give reasons for your opinion and include any relevant examples or personal experiences.

You should write at least 250 words.
Your response will be evaluated in terms of Task Fulfillment, Organization, Vocabulary, and Grammar.

Yêu cầu bài viết: Trả lời thư bạn bè, cung cấp thông tin về thời gian kết thúc kỳ học, kế hoạch kỳ nghỉ và địa điểm đi du lịch.

Bố cục gợi ý:

  1. Mở đầu thư (Introduction):

    • Chào hỏi bạn bè thân mật.
    • Nhắc đến lá thư của Andrea và cảm ơn bạn ấy đã hỏi thăm.

  2. Nội dung chính (Body):

    • Nói về thời gian kết thúc kỳ học của bạn. (Ví dụ: "My semester will finish at the end of June.")
    • Chia sẻ kế hoạch của gia đình bạn cho kỳ nghỉ. (Ví dụ: "My family and I are planning to take a short trip to relax after a busy semester.")
    • Đưa ra địa điểm cụ thể nơi bạn sẽ đi nghỉ. (Ví dụ: "We’re planning to visit Da Nang City because it’s a beautiful coastal city with lots of interesting places to see.")

  3. Kết thúc thư (Conclusion):

Part 2: Argumentative Essay

Yêu cầu bài viết: Đưa ra lý do tại sao học sinh thích học ở trường hơn học online, kèm theo lập luận và ví dụ cụ thể.

Bố cục gợi ý:

  1. Mở bài (Introduction):

    • Giới thiệu chủ đề: "With the development of technology, online learning has become more common. However, many students still prefer studying in traditional schools."
    • Nêu quan điểm: "I believe that traditional classroom learning offers more benefits to students compared to online learning."

  2. Thân bài (Body):

    Lý do 1: Học ở trường tạo môi trường học tập hiệu quả hơn

    • Học sinh có thể tương tác trực tiếp với giáo viên và bạn bè.
    • Giáo viên có thể giải đáp thắc mắc và hướng dẫn cụ thể.
    • Ví dụ: Trong lớp học, học sinh dễ dàng đặt câu hỏi và nhận được câu trả lời ngay lập tức từ giáo viên.

    Lý do 2: Học ở trường giúp học sinh tập trung hơn

    • Ở trường, không có nhiều sự xao nhãng như ở nhà (gia đình, điện thoại, Internet...).
    • Ví dụ: Nhiều học sinh khi học online thường bị mất tập trung do sử dụng mạng xã hội hoặc chơi game.

    Lý do 3: Phát triển kỹ năng xã hội và tinh thần đồng đội

    • Tham gia các hoạt động nhóm, ngoại khóa giúp học sinh học kỹ năng giao tiếp và làm việc nhóm.
    • Ví dụ: Học sinh tham gia thảo luận nhóm, câu lạc bộ thể thao sẽ phát triển kỹ năng xã hội.

  3. Kết bài (Conclusion):

    • Tóm tắt lại các lý do chính.
    • Khẳng định lại quan điểm: "Traditional classroom learning provides a better learning experience and fosters important skills that are essential for students."

Cụm từ hữu ích:

  • "One of the main reasons is..."
  • "For example..."
  • "In addition,..."
  • "Another important reason is..."
  • "In conclusion,..."

Lưu Ý Quan Trọng:

  • Bố cục rõ ràng: Mở bài, thân bài và kết bài.
  • Sử dụng câu nối mạch lạc: (e.g., Firstly, Secondly, Moreover, Furthermore, On the other hand).
  • Ví dụ cụ thể từ kinh nghiệm cá nhân hoặc kiến thức thực tế.
  • Ngữ pháp và từ vựng chính xác: Tránh lặp từ, sử dụng từ đồng nghĩa.
